Two dogs described as an inseparable mother-daughter pair are awaiting adoption together at the Marion County Dog Pound in Marion, Ohio. Lucky, identified as a small black dog, and her daughter Ducky have been staying at the shelter while staff seek a household willing to take both.

According to the outlet's account, the dogs' original owner said Lucky is six years old and Ducky is five, ages that differ from what their microchips indicated. In the same account, Ducky is described as the only puppy from her litter to survive and the smallest of the group, with a German Shepherd father.

The shelter says both dogs can meet children and other dogs. Ducky, though, may be anxious in the kennel setting and could need several introductions before she is comfortable around other dogs. She passed a cat test with curiosity, but the shelter suggests a home without cats unless adopters are willing to proceed slowly.

Staff say the two have lived together for years and intend to place them as a pair. Open hours are listed as noon to 6 p.m. on weekdays and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
