An 82-year-old Montgomery County man reported missing Wednesday morning has been found safe, according to the county sheriff's office.

Thomas Gudorf had been the subject of a public appeal for help locating him. Deputies said he was reported missing at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, and family members told investigators they had met with him that morning before he was last seen driving in the 2700 block of Lyons Road.

Because Gudorf did not have his medication with him, deputies had said they were concerned for his safety. A description circulated during the search listed him as roughly 5-foot-8 and 180 pounds, with gray hair and blue eyes. He had been wearing blue jeans and a teal blue golf shirt, and he was reported to be driving a 2011 red Ford Ranger with Ohio license plate FOM 5413.

The sheriff's office had asked anyone with information about his whereabouts to call the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center at (937) 225-4357.

The update announcing that he was found safe did not include further details about where or how he was located.
