OhioHealth Morrow County Hospital has appointed Matthew White, MD, as medical director of its emergency department and Evan Springer, DO, as associate medical director, the Morrow County Sentinel reported.
Both physicians have roots in neighboring Marion County, which the report describes as less than 20 minutes from the hospital. White has spent nearly 20 years in emergency medicine at OhioHealth Marion General Hospital and served as that department’s medical director for the past decade, according to the Sentinel. Springer joined Marion General after attending Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and completing an emergency medicine residency at OhioHealth Doctors Hospital.
The hospital, described as a critical access facility, has a transfer rate of 9% to other hospitals. Renovations to its emergency department are underway. The report says the work is part of OhioHealth’s commitment to spend at least $6 million in capital improvements at Morrow County Hospital before 2030.
White and Springer said patients should expect care consistent with the broader OhioHealth system while remaining close to home when possible. The Sentinel reported that their focus will remain on emergency care and local access to needed services.
