National Trail Raceway, the roughly 230-acre drag strip near Hebron in Licking County, is among a dozen tracks that Darana Motorsports Holdings is selling across the country, NBC4 reports.

Tranzon, a real estate auction firm, is running the sale. Sealed bids are due Nov. 17, and a buyer could emerge before that date. Two other Ohio venues are in the package: Dragway 42 in West Salem, which dates to 1957, and Kil-Kare Raceway in Xenia, where racing has been held since 1951. Darana expects to finish its exit from the industry by the end of the year.

In a statement, Darana CEO Darryl Cuttell said the company's direction had changed from what it initially expected, and that he had chosen to leave racing by selling the properties.

Racing has taken place at the central Ohio site since 1964. The National Hot Rod Association's Spring Nationals ran there from 1972 through 2006, then shifted to Norwalk starting in 2007; the track's history includes appearances by Shirley Muldowney, Don Prudhomme, Bob Glidden and Tony Schumacher. It now operates as Darana Raceway-Hebron under International Hot Rod Association rules and hosted the IHRA Spring Nationals in May.

Tranzon's listing says the facility remains in operation, and its schedule included the Halloween Hootout the previous weekend. The grounds hold a quarter-mile drag strip, a three-story tower containing race-control space and private suites, pit and staging areas, concessions and camping. About 26 acres are paved parking, with entry from National Road and Refugee Road.

Marketing targets both motorsports and entertainment operators and investors or developers weighing other uses; past events have included autocross, driver training, filming and concerts. Properties are offered individually, and Tranzon said selected bidders could be invited to a further round of online bidding after the deadline.
