An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper reported seeing a Chevrolet Silverado commit an alleged traffic violation around 4:30 a.m. Friday near Palmyra and Turner roads in Canfield Township, close to the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center. According to the patrol, the pickup's driver refused to stop and attempted to flee.
The trooper pursued the truck west on Palmyra Road for roughly two miles at speeds around 90 mph, the patrol said. The patrol described the pursuit as brief. The chase ended when the vehicle rolled onto its side at Gault Road in Ellsworth Township.
A rescue squad responded to the heavily damaged pickup. The patrol said no one suffered serious injuries. The driver's identity had not been released as of the report.
Two mailboxes on Gault Road were damaged, according to the patrol. The roadway was closed temporarily while investigators worked at the crash scene. The patrol is expected to issue a citation to the driver.
