The Paulding County Land Reutilization Corporation convened to address brownfield cleanup and property initiatives. Austin Scheiner, treasurer of the Paulding County Economic Development Board, presented a request that the land bank allocate part of future solar lease income from the Grizzly brownfield solar project to PCED's budget. He credited PCED Director Tim Copsey with leading remediation at a former asbestos brake manufacturing site, potentially generating the first revenue there since the early 1980s. The committee agreed to review the proposal, favoring a structure with renewal evaluations.
Updates covered brownfield properties in Paulding, Oakwood, Payne, and Antwerp. The land bank owns a rehabilitated Welcome Home Ohio home at 621 Sugar St. in Paulding, ready for sale to an income-qualified buyer, with open houses planned for Oct. 27 and 29. Construction on another WHO home at 833 W. Jackson St. is set to begin soon.
The committee reported a balance of $191,237.73 and approved a silent auction for two parcels on North Sherman Street in Scott. A Maumee Valley Planning Organization representative said a subcommittee secured an attorney for future county WHO land transactions. A property at 10397 Ohio 49 has been mowed and trimmed pending evaluation and possible blight removal funding. The committee also approved talks with owners about two new purchase opportunities.
