Perry County commissioners used their weekly Wednesday meeting to introduce Karen Chennells, who was recently hired to lead the Perry County Family and Children First Council. Commissioners said the council was eager to have the post occupied and noted that Chennells brings prior work in social services and with the Board of Developmental Disabilities.
Much of the rest of the session dealt with authorizations granted to board President Scott Owen. He may sign a change order covering drainage, sidewalk and storm sewer revisions in Junction City, work tied to a continuing revitalization effort. Owen also received approval for a HAPCAP extension amendment connected to that project and to a Shawnee neighborhood revitalization effort. A separate resolution lets the county seek acceptance into the Water Supply Revolving Loan Account, which commissioners said supports continued planning, design and construction of water lines and extensions.
Owen was further cleared to send a letter to the Federal Aviation Administration about a Perry County airport change order, and to file a one-time request to dispose of obsolete sheriff's office records. Commissioners also approved a quote from county EMA and dispatch for a cloud-based controller replacing computer hardware, plus a service contract with Buckeye Power Sales for courthouse generator maintenance.
Commissioner Ben Carpenter was authorized to send a second airport letter, this one requesting state money through the Ohio Airport Improvement Project. The board also created a revenue and expense line for the Appalachian Regional Safety Council.
