The Richland County Land Bank has nine demolition bids to weigh for the former West Park Shopping Center at 1157 Park Ave. West in Mansfield, Richland Source reported.

Executive Director Amy Hamrick opened the proposals Tuesday morning, according to the report. Figures spanned from $896,845, submitted by R&D Excavating of Crestline, to $3,248,200 from Adamo Group of Detroit.

Jeremy Huff Excavation of Mansfield entered the second-lowest figure at $945,429. Other submissions included Advanced Demolition of McComb at $1,375,750, Dore & Associates of Michigan at $1,846,200, Windsor of Columbus at $2,056,853.74, Baumann of Garfield Heights at $2,222,202, Eagle Abatement & Demolition of Garfield Heights at $2,375,000 and B&B Wrecking of Cleveland at $3,123,820.

Hamrick said bidders could withdraw by the end of the day Tuesday and that the office would review the submissions and email later in the week, the report said. She noted the budget is tight and that the board must approve a contract before a contractor is selected, likely within the next week or so.

A $1 million state brownfield grant awarded in May will assist the demolition, which the report said would also address asbestos at the property. The city ordered demolition in 2022 after citing zoning and safety violations, and the 17-acre site sits along Park Avenue West's "Miracle Mile."
