State troopers are investigating a two-vehicle collision that closed part of U.S. Route 33 in Logan County during the early hours of Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred about 3:40 a.m. in McArthur Township, close to mile marker 7. A preliminary patrol account states that a northwestbound 2004 Pontiac Vibe driven by 28-year-old Alec Cooper of Lakeview crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2022 Freightliner semi traveling southeast.

Cooper was airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital with injuries the patrol described as life-threatening. The semi's driver, 61-year-old Aaron Fisher of Wapakoneta, was taken by ground ambulance to Mary Rutan Hospital for possible injuries.

Deputies with the Logan County Sheriff's Office shut the highway between Township Road 95 and Township Road 94 shortly before 4 a.m. The patrol's Marysville Post continues to handle the investigation, and alcohol is not presently believed to have played a role.

The report did not indicate when the route would reopen, saying only that the highway remained closed at the time of publication.
