The Trumbull County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to name Matthew Glidewell as the county's next Job and Family Services director, WFMJ reported. Commissioner Tony Bernard told 21 News that the board considered many applicants and concluded Glidewell was the most knowledgeable and qualified. Bernard described Glidewell's finance background as a major asset, saying he is well educated and has worked with state grants.

Glidewell holds multiple roles at present. He is assistant superintendent for the Ashtabula County Board of Developmental Disabilities and a member of the Weathersfield Local School Board. The Ashtabula County agency's website says he joined in March 2020 and was promoted to assistant superintendent this past January, per the report. Earlier, he worked as operations director and finance director for the Northeast Ohio Network (NEON) Council of Governments, which provided his financial experience.

His new position is scheduled to begin Monday, Oct. 19, according to the report.
