An Ohio school funding forum was scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 6:30 p.m. in Leavittsburg, according to WFMJ. The Greater Western Reserve School Funding Forum is set for the LaBrae High School Auditorium at 1001 N. Leavitt Road, with doors opening at 6 p.m. The event is open to the public and will cover issues affecting schools and communities, WFMJ reported.

Public school leaders say recent tax reforms and school vouchers increasingly threaten local education, according to the report. The forum is expected to address Ohio’s school funding model and other topics, and attendees can ask speakers questions.

Former State Representative John Patterson and Ryan Pendleton, founders of the Fair School Funding Workgroup, are slated to give an update on the state funding model. A separate discussion on state tax reform and its local impact is to feature Ryan Ghizzoni of Frontline Education; Katie Johnson, executive director of the Ohio Association of School Business Officials; and Terry Armstrong, treasurer of Lakeview Local School District.

Former State Rep. Stephen Dyer is scheduled to present on how the Ed Choice voucher system and its expansion affect property owners and schools. Bill Phillis, executive director of the Ohio Coalition for Equity & Adequacy of School Funding, is also expected to provide an update on litigation against Ohio’s voucher program.
