A low-flying airplane is set to spread seed over selected farms in Washington County, Ohio, according to the county Sheriff's Office. The locations named are Barlow, Watertown and Waterford.

The seed is intended to start cover crops. The office listed rye, oats, radishes and turnips as examples of what may be spread.

The Sheriff's Office described the flights as an ordinary farming practice and said they present no risk to people, pets or livestock. It added that seed will not be scattered over roads, homes or land that is not farmland.

The office's announcement did not include a date or time for the flights. Residents in the three communities may spot the aircraft while the work takes place.
