The Wood County Health Department said it is confirming a measles case in Bowling Green. According to officials, the patient is an adult who acquired the virus while traveling. The department warned that people may have been exposed at four Bowling Green locations between Sept. 23 and Sept. 28, 2026.
The agency listed BGSU’s Overman and/or Physical Science Buildings on Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; Pagliai’s Restaurant on Sept. 23 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Wood County Hospital Emergency Department on Sept. 24 from 8:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 25; the same emergency department on Sept. 25 from 6:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.; and Falcon Health Center on Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Anyone present during those windows is asked to fill out the Measles Close Contact Investigation Form at woodcountyhealth.org or through the department’s social media page.
Symptoms can include fever, runny nose, cough and red, watery eyes. Rachel Aeschliman, interim health commissioner, said the rash is distinctive because it typically begins at the face or hairline and moves downward. She said symptoms may appear within 21 days of exposure and that a person is contagious from four days before the rash appears until four days after.
Lucas County also confirmed a measles case. Health Commissioner Karim Baroudi said the infected person was a woman who was traveling; her rash began Sept. 13 while she traveled through Toledo. Both commissioners advised people with symptoms to call their doctor or emergency department before going in, and to check vaccination status.
