Arienne Childrey and state Rep. Angie King are running again for Ohio’s 84th House District, according to LimaOhio.com. Childrey is a Democrat and former St. Marys councilwoman; King, a Republican from Celina, currently represents the district. The district takes in Wapakoneta, southern Van Wert County and Mercer County.

The two met in the 2024 race for the same seat. Childrey was sworn in to St. Marys council in 2025 to complete an unexpired term, and the outlet reported she became the first transgender person to sit on a city council. She also sits on the city’s Tree Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals. King served 11 years on Celina council, became Mercer County recorder in 2013 and was elected to the legislature in 2023. She is a former board member of several state and regional organizations.

Childrey’s priorities include ending housing voucher discrimination based on income, requiring schools to source at least 30% of food from local farmers and creating a loan-to-grant path for nursing students. King points to lower taxes, business recruitment and House Bill 10, which she co-sponsored and which requires labels on imitation meat and egg products. Both said they would prioritize Ohio families if elected.
