The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce's Oct. 27 EdConnection bulletin says its Accountability Training Series will continue with a session on literacy-related accountability measures and data alignment. It also reports that a recent change in Ohio law makes Reading Achievement Plans school requirements rather than district plans, with a Dec. 31 submission deadline.

The bulletin notes that the Ohio Department of Health has released updated School Vision Screening Requirements and Guidelines for preschool and school-aged children, citing current best practices and minor procedural changes. On rulemaking, the department says it has not posted new rules for public comment since the previous EdConnection edition and directs readers to its website for previously announced opportunities and deadlines.

The bulletin also lists dates. Ohio Traffic Safety Office licensing training for school-based driver education runs Oct. 26-28. An Integrated MTSS webinar and an industry-recognized credential redesign webinar are set for Oct. 29. Other deadlines include Oct. 30 for intent to apply for K-5 math core instructional materials, Oct. 31 for industry-recognized credential applications, Nov. 6 for public comments on the Model Student Acceleration Policy for Advanced Learners and a district data roll-up form, Nov. 18 for Career Pathways Exploration Grant applications, and Nov. 30 for a special education procedures survey and K-5 math instructional materials applications.

A Purple Star Award 2027 application period runs Nov. 1-Dec. 15.
