The Richland County Youth and Family Council and partner agencies plan to distribute 400 Thanksgiving food boxes to county households in the second year of the Doing Good Together initiative.
The council serves kinship families—grandparents or other relatives raising children because of abuse or neglect—and families of children with developmental disabilities, according to the source. Partner agencies also report increased requests for food assistance from older adults.
The boxes are described as supplemental holiday meal supplies. The source lists boxed potatoes, mashed or scalloped, and other fixings such as cranberry sauce, but does not give a complete inventory.
Additional partners listed are Richland County Children Services, the Mansfield Police Department, the Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging Inc. and Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center.
County residents can pre-register through Nov. 4, 2026, by calling Richland First Call at 2-1-1. Pickup is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 23, at Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center, 890 W. 4th St., Mansfield, with times assigned in advance.
As of the Oct. 29 draft date, both dates were still ahead. The 400-box figure is described as an aim, not a completed distribution.
