Rittal LLC's planned Urbana expansion is projected to add 182 jobs, part of a 10-project package announced by Ohio officials. Gov. Mike DeWine, Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel and Development Director Lydia Mihalik said the approvals are expected to yield 1,359 jobs statewide, keep 1,824 existing positions and draw more than $2.2 billion in investment. The 182 Urbana positions are among the 1,359 positions projected across the package.
The Urbana project in Champaign County is expected to generate about $12 million in new yearly payroll by Dec. 31, 2029, according to the announcement. Rittal North America makes commercial IT infrastructure components for data centers and other IT-sector customers.
The Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved a 1.601% Job Creation Tax Credit lasting nine years, state officials said. The credit is intended to support the company's planned hiring. Across the 10 approved projects, officials expect more than $142.3 million in new annual payroll. JobsOhio and regional partners submitted the proposals, which the authority reviewed.
