WLIO reported that Allen County government departments are moving into new offices at the Government Center in Lima. The Veterans Service Commission completed its relocation to a first-floor space in the week before the report and began seeing veterans there that Monday.
Tamara Wilson, executive director of the county Veterans Services Commission, said the courthouse is historic but the agency needed newer quarters for staff, veterans and the community. She said the new location gives veterans service officers more privacy when meeting with veterans and provides more room.
The auditor's office was finishing its move, while the recorder's office was still relocating, according to the report. County commissioners hired Lane's Moving Co. to assist and said the process has gone smoothly.
Brian Winegardner, a county commissioner, said elected officials in each agency took on the task, created a moving schedule and remained on schedule for the final move.
All departments are expected to be in their new offices by Nov. 1, the report said.
