Clinton County is recruiting a resident to fill an opening on its Board of Zoning Appeals. The citizen panel reviews requests involving zoning variances, conditional-use permits and appeals of administrative decisions under local land-use rules, according to county officials. It also weighs county code against property owners' circumstances and long-range community planning goals.

Members serve five-year terms. The board convenes only when needed, on the third Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.

To qualify, an applicant must live in Clinton County, be a registered voter and reside in a zoned township. County officials said prior experience in zoning, local government or urban planning is not necessary. They described the ideal candidate as fair-minded, attentive to detail and engaged with local growth and planning issues.

Forms are available on the county website, co.clinton.oh.us, or at the Clinton County Commissioners' office, 1850 Davids Drive, Suite 208, on the Clinton County Administrative Campus. Applications are due by 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13. They can be dropped off at the campus or sent by email to the address listed in the notice.
