City of Columbus employees have until Nov. 26 to lock in 2027 benefit elections through Dayforce, according to a Nov. 3 bulletin from Employee Benefits and Wellness. The same bulletin's headline lists an Oct. 26 to Nov. 27 window, so the closing date should be confirmed with the office before publication.
The department said it has assembled decision aids, including a new one-stop page covering open enrollment, EBW and provider details, plus recordings from sessions with CME (HSA/HDHP), Anthem/VSP (medical/vision) and CVS (pharmacy). A final educational session is scheduled for Nov. 4 from noon to 12:45 p.m. with MetLife.
The bulletin also explains how health savings accounts work. An HSA is a tax-advantaged account paired with a high-deductible plan; pre-tax money covers deductibles, copays and prescriptions, balances carry over annually, and the account stays with the employee after a job change or retirement. CME Federal Credit Union administers the accounts, and the city puts in $600 for single accounts and $1,200 for family accounts twice a year, per the bulletin.
For 2027, the listed employee contribution ceilings are $4,500 for individual coverage and $9,000 for family coverage, up from $4,400 and $8,750 in 2026.
