A message attributed to Mayor Ginther announced domestic violence awareness training for City of Columbus employees, saying the city's commitment to the issue continues after Domestic Violence Awareness Month concluded.
The Office of Violence Prevention developed the brief video with the Columbus Women's Commission. According to the message, it is intended to help city workers understand domestic violence and learn how to support colleagues who may be experiencing it. The message notes that violence at home can affect people at work and that colleagues may not know what others are facing.
The training is available to all staff through the Citywide Training Gateway. Employees were told to expect an assignment message from their HR representative and to complete the training within 30 days. Questions or concerns should be coordinated with supervisors, the message says.
The message also states that confidential resources are available for anyone experiencing domestic violence, though it does not identify specific providers. It frames the training as part of broader city efforts to build safe and supportive communities and workplaces.
