The Fayette County Board of Commissioners met Monday and acted on contracts, quotes and infrastructure matters, the Record Herald reported.

The reported actions included a $7,370.96 change order with Miller Mason Paving for chip-and-seal work. Also listed were 2027 ditch maintenance collection rates and an $11,592.73 construction loan payoff aimed at reducing interest costs.

Other items included a $3,450 CMP Contracting quote for a new sensor on the jail’s damaged sally port door and a $1,200 Silco quote for three fire suppression systems in jail IT rooms. Commissioners allocated $3,420 for the recorder to scan registered land books from 1890 through 1990. The meeting also produced a recommendation to hire Ready Electric for internet and phone service at 211 S. Fayette St. before the Building Department moves, plus a dog shelter food storage replacement capped at $2,400.

Airport engineer Bruce Brandstetter updated the board on facility work. The Automated Weather Observing System relocation contract is closing out, a lighted wind cone is scheduled to start in November, and crack sealing on the apron asphalt seal coat is done. The final seal coat is expected to wait until spring 2027. The FAA’s fall planning meeting is set for Nov. 30 to discuss capital improvements through 2030.

Chet Murphy of the Fayette Soil and Water Conservation District reported the county master floodplain map was completed and described efforts toward a scrap tire amnesty program. Melanie Bice of the ADAMH Board raised financial issues, asked commissioners to recommend a Fayette County resident for a departing board seat, and said the Scioto Paint Valley Mental Health Center contract was extended six months instead of the usual year.
