Several school districts in northeast Ohio started Thursday on a delay as fog reduced visibility, according to the FOX 8 school closing list. The list showed most of the affected districts were in Huron County: Bellevue City Schools, Monroeville Local Schools, New London Local Schools and Willard City Schools.
The National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement early Thursday for patchy dense fog. The agency said the fog was expected to stay dense until shortly after sunrise, with conditions improving quickly by 10 a.m. It advised drivers to expect visibility to change over short distances and to be ready for visibility as low as one-quarter mile or less. NWS recommended slowing down, using headlights and leaving extra following distance.
By the draft time of 11:36 a.m. Thursday, the statement's projected improvement time had passed. The FOX 8 report referred readers to its closing and delay list for updates.
