The Morrow County Quilting Guild held its "Celebrating American Quilts" show Oct. 3-4 in the Park Avenue Elementary gymnasium in Mount Gilead, then released placings across twelve categories, listed first through third.
Robin Jordan's "Applique Rescue" earned Viewers' Best of Show and first place in the applique division, while her travel bag was the sole personal item entry. Kim Porter's "Ruby Hazard's Grandmother's Fan" led the large hand-quilted quilts. Rachel Weatherbie's "Irish Chain" headed large machine-quilted work, followed by Laura James' "A Daughter's Love" and Tonya Plough's "Pinwheel Block O."
Among small quilts, Marcella Garverick's "School Girl Sampler" won the hand-quilted class and Vicky Obenour's "Birds of a Feather" the machine-quilted one. Obenour also placed first in wall hanging with "Beth's Blossoms" and in mixed technique with "Sweet Jane." Shelley Ford took top placings for crib quilt, miniature and home decor. Sheila Schaeffer's "Cathedral Window" led antique entries, and Chris Dickinson's two Ohio-themed pillows placed in home decor.
Several divisions drew fewer than three placements, including miniature, personal item and applique.
A group photograph of guild members accompanied the results.
