A fundraiser for animals in the care of the Ohio SPCA is set for 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Beer Barrel Pizza and Grill at 2625 W. Market St.
The Ohio Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is putting on the "Dine and Donate" event together with the Allen County Humane Society and the restaurant. Under the arrangement, 15% of participating food purchases will be directed to the animals the Ohio SPCA looks after.
Meals eaten in the restaurant and carryout orders both count toward the effort. According to the announcement, a customer must tell staff about the Ohio SPCA and Humane Society fundraiser when dining in or placing an order so the purchase is credited to the event.
Board member Tracey Tamayo said the organization is dealing with substantial difficulties and that the proceeds matter for its ongoing work. Per the source, that work includes feeding, housing, medical treatment and emergency care for hundreds of animals that rely on the group.
The announcement did not state a fundraising target, describe how proceeds would be split between the two animal organizations, or say whether the restaurant limits the offer to certain menu items.
