A Wilmington grandmother and her grandson have been recognized as the third-week winners of Clinton County's 2026 Get Caught Recycling campaign, according to the Clinton County Solid Waste Management District.
Benny Clausing and Peggy Ostenkamp, his grandmother, were honored at the community drop-off site at 1274 W. Main St. in Wilmington after being observed bringing recyclables there. The district's mascot, Buster the Mouse, and district representative Erin Camery presented the recognition.
Benny's prize package was made from recycled materials. It included a travel bag, a portable speaker and a power bank, all manufactured from recycled cans and bottles.
The annual effort is intended to encourage residents to reduce waste and to recycle common household items such as bottles, jars, cans and newspapers. Five drop-off sites operate across Clinton County, and a full list of locations and accepted materials is posted on the county recycling web page, co.clinton.oh.us/recycling.
The report did not state how many weeks the campaign runs or how winners are selected beyond being spotted at a drop-off site.
